Date: Dec. 1, 2016 - Canyon Lakes Winter 2016-2017 Pile Burning Plans
Firefighters from the Canyon Lakes Ranger District of the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland plans to take advantage of changing weather conditions to burn slash piles left from multiple fuels reductions and hazardous tree removal projects. Glacier View Fire Protection District maintains fire and rescue response capabilities with approximately 20 firefighters and a support group of 8 members. The fire district covers approximately 56 miles and the average response time is approximately 10 minutes for the first vehicle to arrive on-scene after being paged by Larimer County Dispatch. All firefighters are required to attend classroom and hands-on training before, during and after they are hired onto the department.
